Fisherman’s Life
8:30 – Reception at Instituto Ilhas do Brazil. Introduction to the fisherman that will guide us. Brief explanation about the Project “Estrelas do Mar”, trip, boat, kinds of traditional fishing and the security equipments.
9:00 – Get on a typical fisherman’s boat. Inspection and explanations about the “trap fishing”. Throwing a fishing net in the sea. Inspection of the fishing nets in the bay and next to the islands. Removal of a fishing net that was placed on the previous night, collecting and classifying the fishes. Boat trip going near the Islands “Três Irmãs” and “Moleques do Sul”. On the way back, inspection of the fishing net that was placed on the sea in the beginning of the trip. A stop for a swimming (optional). Along the way, the fisherman will share with us a bit of his knowledge and life experience.
12:30 / 13:00 – Arriving at the beach. Cleaning process of the fishes brought from the sea (optional). Lunch in a typical restaurant of the region with “pirão” (fish broth), rice, black beans, “farofa”, salad and different fishes.
Day and activity time: Every day, from 8:30.
Location: Instituto Ilhas do Brazil, Pântano do Sul Beach.
IMPORTANT: Activity for children, men and women of all ages.
Included:
- Boat trip from Pantano do Sul to the proximities of Três Irmãs e Moleques do Sul Islands
- Inspection and explanations about the “trap fishing”
- Inspection of the fishing nets located in the bay and near the islands
- Throwing the fishing net in the sea and double-checking on the way back
- Removal of a fishing net that was placed on the previous night, collecting and classifying the fishes
- Stop for a swimming, and a class on how to clean a fish (optional without costs)
- Lunch in a typical restaurant of the region (drinks not included)
