Pousada Vila Tamarindo Eco Lodge - Inn's Philosophy
Vila Tamarindo Inn has as a basis the sustainability concept for it's activities development, it's guests total satisfaciton and respect for the environment which it's inserted.
On this concept, the inn offers charm and confort as in a house beach. Ample and ventilated ambients, simple and rustic, cheerful and colorful form a beach set and very comfortable at the same time. Every inn's detail has been, and still is, elaborated considering the needs of it's guests, who are here only to enjoy, without any worries, their stay.
From the environment's point of view, the inn searches for ways to contribute in a cultural, economic and social way with local community, and also to preserve natural spaces.On this context, we allow those who stay here to have the opportunity to live this concept, stimulating, in a racional way, the contact with nature, always esteeming the joiful of life.
With a family proposal, we are very worried about every detail that move this inn, like services, instalations, cleaning, improvement, maintenance and environment's conservation. The team is hardly selected, trained and capacitated on our concepts. People from the community are integral part of our team, where more than half of them is with us since we first started working. Attending our guest's most diverse needs, with caress and dedication, are constant part of our day-by-day. Nature was wonderful and has gifted us in an unmatchable way. The green and blue from the seas are remarcable presence. Nothing is fairer than retributing this favor to mother nature, our loyal companion. We have total conscience from that, and respect it since our inn's construction until the operational way of our day by day work. All these efforts come to make our convivence as harmonic as possible on our environment.
Sustainability Politics
Vila Tamarindo Inn is located on Florianópolis, in the state of Santa Catarina, and is a small hospitality option, with urban leisure options, in front of Campeche Beach, and has a commitment with the Principles of Sustainable Tourism, and stablishes it's sustainability politics, with the objective of promote the continuous improvement of it's operations, in the following ways:
- Having the commitment of attend the legislation and other requirements and aplicable to sustainability's impacts and aspects;
- Managing in a correct way the solid residues, liquid effluents and atmospheric emssions to guarantee the suitable management of natural appeals, specially water and energy;
- Incentivating the formation and participation of it's clients, with the objective of improving the service's quality and stimulating it's commitment with ambiental and social-cultural questions, as well as having the financial results which allow the economic sustainability in a medium and long term;
- Improving the development and participation of the community, suppliers and services render, in a way to promote the economic and social development of the region;
- Try to attend the other interested people's needs on the inn's social-cultural and ambiental development;
- Divulgate the politics to clients, employers, local community, suppliers and services renders, local association, other interested parts and the whole public, in a way that the politics can be understood and implanted.
Architectural, Economic, Social and Ambiental Project
The sustainability concept was basis of the whole Pousada Vila Tamarindo Eco Lodge's project development.
The inn's architectural Project has priorized to get maximum thermic efficience. The habitational unities were all projected with crossed ventilation, directed on north-south way, where the occurence of these winds correspond to 98% from the Campeche's beach winds, where we are. The opening of the unities were also positioned with face to north, maximizing the illumination of the accommodations'; intern area. The upstairs unities were projected with double "right foot", providing more natural thermic confort. Also on the architectural project, we have built and divided the edification into 5 distinct blocks, distributes in a harmonic way on the land, minimizing the visual impact and integrating the project with the envinronment.
The illumination of extern areas, common areas and gardens are eqquiped with electronic lamps with photocells and moving sensors. Inside the unities, the electronic lamps are also part from most of the ambients, not being used only where esthetic is damaged.
Focusing on ambiental preservation, we have developed na irrigation system on the gardens:
- Subsoil captation → reservatory → irrigation → return to water table
This same water is use don pool and then returns to the ambient.
We have inserted the central minibar concept. The unities have the minibar, but they are turned off, with the possibility of being turned on by the guests if they wish so. All drinks are armazenated in a refrigerator at the reception.
The awareness work from the employers, clients, suppliers and the community is constant.
As we are talking about na ECO LODGE, it's clients already know that the sustainability side will be enlighted during the stays. Panels comunicating the sustentability politic, the actions, etc are widelly divulgated in the inn. The towels change are made every two days, and the sheets every four days, controling the effluents emission.
The selective waste collect is used by the co-workers as well as by the guests, who besides an common extern area to waste selection, also have in their rooms the possibility of this selection. An area for recicable waste deposit was created, providing the easy access to it's collect by the interested community.
The home made breakfast, made with regional products, made with traditional familiar recipes and local recipes, which valorize the region´s costums. The products are totally aqquired from local suppliers, developed by the inn and whose choice, among other factors, was given because they were engaged on sustainability concepts.
The trainee programs and co-workers awareness are constant. Courses, lectures and meetings are part of the job which is focused on capacitating them to understand, divulgate and practice the sustainability concept. The reflex from this learning is taken outside the work space, providing dissemination from this concept to their homes, and consequently to the community.
On the social concept, we give support to beneficent entities like APAE and SEOVE. We develop two social programs to support community: ARTE SUAVE ("SOFT ART") and CASA CANEBA ("CANEBA HOUSE").
We develop, train and certificate on programs against children sexual exploration or any other kind of sexual exploration on tourism. Our inn, as any other hospitality establishment is very weakened with this fact, once we can't select it's frequency, what would characterize a discriminatory practice, considered a crime on our country. This situation requires preparation from all our co-workers and guests´ awareness.
We always try to integrate our guests to local culture, encouraging them to know better the region's costums, the folklore and the craft.
We seek the constant improvement. We are certified in the international commerce area on sustainable tourism, and now we are going after the certification on SUSTAINABLE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM, with the support from the Hospitality Institute (HI) and Bem Receber Program.
Through these actions we try to reach our sustainability goals, making our guests and co-workers conscientious about life value, and our planet's preservation, as well as supporting community so we can together go ahead, searching for a better planet.
We try to put in practice what is the best on hospitality concept to those who here attend, so they can do from this inn their "beach house".
